Welcome to the August edition of the Fairford and Lechlade Business Club newsletter. Summer is finally here and hopefully for many businesses we are making enough hay while the sun shines!
My name is Camilla George and I joined the Steering Group this year. I am a dentist and have been a member of the FLBC since 2012. In the same year as joining the FLBC, I started DentArtWork Dental Care in Lechlade. We are a general dental practice where we also provide Invisalign (teeth straightening), Enlighten (teeth whitening) and Sleepwell (anti-snoring device). I opened my business in my second year of studying for a Masters Degree in Forensic Odontology as well as working part-time for another dental practice in Oxfordshire. I faced many challenges, but got through this with support from my family, friends and the FLBC. In 2012, DentArtWork Dental Care won new business of the year at the FLBC awards. We were also one of three finalists for the best treatment of nervous patients in the national Private Dentistry Awards in 2017.
Starting a business from scratch is not something they teach you in dental school. No course can prepare you for the rollercoaster of being in business. Being adaptable and open to change with a positive mental attitude has shaped our business, particularly during a pandemic. No virus is going to kill off my business! FLBC has been invaluable during my time in business and I always look forward to the social events; meeting like-minded members in business.
