We are finally OPEN!
You will have all noticed the high water levels over Spring – Indeed you might have thought all that water – great for boating!
Not the case sadly….
The locks have a navigation traffic light system with no boards or green all okay – yellow fast increasing or decreasing water flows and red for dangerous water flows.
You can’t generally go boating if the locks aren’t green so unbelievably here at Buscot and at St Johns Lock’s the first day we could fully open was early May – not Easter as is the norm. The water table is also still high so there will be days this year, if we have heavy rain, when we will have to close again….
Hopefully few and far between and you can come hire a boat from us whilst the going is good….
By the way the changes are usually a day or so after the rain – so early and late season it can be pouring and you CAN have a boat then glorious sunshine but you CAN’T! Don’t worry – we have a wet weather rain check policy for pre-bookings…
