Is it necessary to have my boiler serviced every year?
Absolutely! As well as ensuring your boiler is safe and isn’t posing any risks within the home, servicing also allows for any issues to be caught early and fixed before they become too much of a problem. Undiagnosed glitches in a boiler will only get worse as time goes on and will be expensive to fix if left too long. Servicing also ensures your boiler is running efficiently which can save you money in the long run. An efficient boiler will use less energy and therefore keep your energy costs down.

How can I keep my boiler efficient and keep rising energy costs down?
As the colder weather sets in and you turn on your heating after the summer months, you may notice things aren’t running as well as they used to. Dirt, dust and debris within the heating system turns into sludge and this can build up in a heating system, particularly in radiators, meaning the system won’t be working at full capacity. To ensure the boiler isn’t working harder than it needs to and using more energy to heat an area, you can have the heating system power flushed to improve efficiency. This will remove the sludge and get your heating system working at its best.
One way to help keep costs down is to have Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRV’s) fitted to your radiators. These allow you to control the temperature in each room of the house by adjusting the position of the dial to a certain number. Aside from being cost effective and saving money on energy by only heating areas required, energy wastage will be less which is great for the environment.

Using SMART Heating Controls is another innovative way to manage your heating system with the added bonus of accessibility. They are thermostatic devices that can be fitted to your heating system and can be controlled remotely from your smartphone or other devices. Whether you’re not at home and need to turn a radiator off or you’re sat on the sofa and want a radiator on, having SMART controls will allow you to do this by simply tapping a button on your phone.
