For the second year running, Katie Walls is the Wrag Barn Ladies Champion.
The Ladies Championships were held on 14th August and for once it wasn’t pouring with rain. Over 36 holes Katie who plays off a handicap of 1 shot 152 (77&75) to win the competition by 8 shots from Gill Loughery who came second with a total of 60.
It’s been a busy summer for Katie who is Captain of the Wiltshire Golf Under 18s Girls team and she created a tremendous team spirit throughout Girls SW Inter Counties at Wedmore Golf Club; everyone felt valued and supported. She is also part of the Wiltshire Golf Ladies Team Captained by Gill Loughery and made a valuable contribution during SW Match Week at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club.
Individually Katie has played in the Under 18 Mixed England Amateur Open and the Under 18 English Girls Amateur Open where she made the cut and came 28th.
We keep her feet firmly on the ground at Wrag Barn where she has played in the Junior and Ladies Section this summer. She has a charming manner and a round of golf in Katie’s company is always a pleasure.
It can’t be denied that the future for Katie is bright; whether or not she makes golf her future career. For the moment she is working in the Pro shop at Wrag Barn and will go to college in the Autumn to gain her qualifications as a Personal Trainer.
We wish you well for the future Katie and congratulations; Wrag Barn Ladies Champion 2021.
