We are proud to announce that Wrag Barn has become a signatory for the Women In Golf Charter.
The purpose of this charter is:
- To encourage more women and girls to play the game and join clubs
- To inspire more families to enjoy golf as a group leisure activity
- To open up more opportunities for women to work within the golf industry.
Jeremy Tomlinson CEO of England Golf wrote:
“Wrag Barn will be inspiring other clubs from across the country to develop a more inclusive culture within golf for more women and girls to develop across all levels of the sport. It’s fantastic to see you are working on all aspects of the club from recruitment of women and girls to supporting mixed events.”
Some of the measures we already have in place are:
- Regular group coaching sessions at the weekends
- Introductory memberships for Ladies in a teaching programme
- A full fixture list of mixed competitions, both fun and matches
- Inclusion in the ‘Girls Golf Rocks’ programme
The events of this year have highlighted the importance of spending time with family and golf is an ideal sport for intergenerational participation. The mental health benefits of golf have been well documented and the improved muscle strength and balance in elderly participants has been proved in a recent study by the R&A at the University of Southampton.
