Farmor’s School ‘Pitch In’ Community Project

Farmor’s School, are asking for your support in an amazing project which will benefit not only local schools, but also the wider community.  This project is run by staff members from the school.

There is desperate need for an all-weather pitch in the local area. A report by the Football Foundation has confirmed that there is not enough all-weather surface provision for young people in this area of Gloucestershire. Farmor’s School has the perfect site for a brand new state-of-the-art all-weather pitch, and because this has been identified as a much-needed facility for the local area, the Football Association has agreed to fund up to 70% of the cost.

Having this facility in the local area will not only provide for our many school sports teams at Farmor’s, but also meet the increasing demand for a suitable surface for local sports clubs, and provide more opportunities for the wider sporting community. We have the support of both Fairford Town Council and Cotswold District Council and we are also working with local football and rugby clubs, to make sure this new facility benefits grass roots sports provision for generations. The site identified at Farmor’s School is adjacent to the Sports Hall, which means that alongside the all-weather pitch there will be changing rooms, toilets, a sports hall for small pitch use and a gym for training.  As well as a community hub in the evenings and at weekends, it will provide opportunities for holiday clubs, coaching and refereeing courses and sporting competitions. We are determined to deliver a facility which will benefit not just the school, but also the wider community.

Although the Football Association will fund 70% of the costs, the project will only get off the ground if we can raise the remaining funds. We have already begun fundraising though a crowdfunding webpage, and local organisations have also pledged funds. To raise enough money for the project to go ahead, we also need the support of local businesses.

How can you help?

Would you be willing to offer an item or service for a raffle which we are organising? There is also the opportunity for sponsorship and advertising relating to the all-weather pitch, and we are open to additional ideas you might have to support the project.

If you are able to help by providing a raffle prize or any other ideas, please contact pitchin@farmors.gloucs.sch.uk
