On Thursday the 3rd of February 17 members gathered at the Riverside Pub Lechlade to listen to a thought provoking talk by Kathryn Ford who is both the Highworth Centre manager and also the area manager for a number of local centres for the debt charity CAP.
CAP are a charity that helps individuals on a one to one basis manage and get out of their debt crisis by helping them make arrangements with their creditors and access benefits that they may be entitled to.
CAP also organises life skills and budgeting training courses as well as back to work preparation courses as part a job club. The courses and job club are run by trained volunteers who come from a range of back grounds including local business owners who have particularly relevant skills to offer and also previous participants of the course who have gone on to be trained to run courses.
The members attending the meeting were privileged to hear the inspiring story from one of the Highworth CAP centres former clients who has not only become debt free with their help but has been trained and runs some of their life skills courses.
The members attending the meeting, which included a number of new members, enjoyed a good session of networking and also asked Kathryn so many questions that most attendees didn’t leave the Riverside until 9.30 as everyone was having such a good time.
